Description

Inspired by the watercolour series by Japanese artist, Yoshitaka Amano, Fairies uses clarinet and mallet instruments to portray the characters of each fairy.

A dynamic piece that uses both Bb and Eb clarinet, as well as both marimba and vibraphone. Written for two players, this three-movement work highlights the mischievous leprechaun, the regal and dream-like queen of the fairies Titania, and the spiteful knockers that live in the mines. Written for fairly advanced players, this work leans into non-traditional harmony while keeping the performance techniques expressive and exciting.
