My love of Carl Sagan will reach into every corner of this blog. He changed my life and, after hearing him speak about the universe and the nature of life, I will never be the same again. When the Sagan Series on Facebook and YouTube gave a call for musical submissions to play in their seventh episode, I was over the moon.
I wrote and edited the entire piece in one day – seven hours straight on one piece. It just flowed out of me and I couldn’t get it down fast enough.
In the end, I didn’t win, but that’s okay. The winner was a user recommendation of a professionally recorded orchestra of Johnny Greenwood’s “Moon Trills,” which is a beautiful and evocative tune in itself. Reid Gower, who began the Sagan Series, had this to say about my submission:
“kenleykristofferson: Your score was by far the closest to challenging Moon Trills. It was superb. For some reason though, I found it hard to edit visuals around it. I chalk it up to a preference issue that can’t be explained rationally.” So, you win some, you lose some, but hopefully you’ll get some great music out of it in the end 🙂
